We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve been notified of selection for a prestigious Strategic Funding Increase (STRATFI) award from the AFWERX Directorate of the U.S. Department of Air Force. The award can provide up to $15 Million in anticipated matching funding*, building on our previous Phase II programs with the USAF.

This award is meant to encourage private sector innovation that can support the Air Force, bridging the capability gap between current SBIR Phase II efforts and Phase III scaling efforts. Our revolutionary engine innovations will help the military deliver more power in a smaller, more efficient package, including hybrid electric propulsion for drones, and ultra-portable power generation solutions.
Air Force Lt. Col. John Tekell said it well:
“We look forward to working with LiquidPiston and our Air Force end-users to develop and field ground and airborne power systems based on LiquidPiston’s compact, heavy fuel-capable engine and hybrid power system platforms.”
The STRATFI award selection adds to our already remarkable momentum over the past year:
- $9 million development contract from the U.S. Army
- $1.7 million Phase II award to develop hybrid-electric UAV propulsion
- Supercharged XTS-210 engine release
